About Nick Coffee
Entrepreneurship & Business Leadership
I started my first business at the age of 26 and became an entrepreneur for life. At the age of 31 I left my last job working for somebody else and started United Structural. United Structural, a steel design firm has grown to support 11 employees in 7 states. Together we have worked on projects in 39 different states. Locally I have worked on such notable projects as the Gates Chili gymnasium , the new buildings at the public market, the Gates Public Library and Elmgrove crossings. Later, we instituted a company wide 32 hour work week by adding a paid holiday every Friday.
As an industry leader in remote work since its inception, United Structural later launched its own cloud computing provider known as Unite3D to provide support to other companies wishing to support their employees by offering work from home.
Family and Community
At home I spend my time with my wife and the President of the Gates Chili School board Katie Coffee. This has presented great opportunities to connect with our neighbors and community. I’ve volunteered with organizations such as CASH, Habitat for Humanity, ABC, and as a long time soccer coach.
Standing Up for Families
As a child of a violent and abusive divorce, I have run and worked on several campaigns with a focus on electing Family court judges who show strong compassion and an awareness of the cost of courts to families.
Fighting for Gates
Politically I have worked locally supporting and managing campaigns that I believe in. Through this work I have built a strong network of connections with our elected officials through which I plan to advocate for the county, state and federal grant dollars which our town so badly needs and deserves. Our taxes are too high because we turn up our nose at this money and we can’t afford that.
